The Foundation was formed in October 2009 as a result of the first Eye Health Summit. This event, hosted by The Vision Council, began the process of building a strong consensus among interested parties/stakeholders in the community on a public health/eye health message.
The Foundation for Eye Health Awareness, is 501 (c)(3) non-profit educational foundation that was created to increase the public’s awareness about the importance of eye health through a nationwide messaging campaign that directs people to take better care of their eyes.
The Foundation for Eye Health Awareness is reaching Americans through the major, multi-pronged campaign — Think about Your Eyes.
This initiative is designed to increase public awareness of vision health and the value of comprehensive eye exams. The campaign’s strong educational message reaches the general population through television and radio, community outreach, eye care professional (ECP) outreach, social media, and a dedicated website.
